i miss my brain

nick was nagging me about updating this blog, so i thought i'd spend some time catching up on all of the absolutely stupid things pregnancy has led me to do. i really think the baby blocks my ability to think. so, here's a list of a few of my favorites:

twice i have brought my garage pass from my car into the house. i have no idea why. the first time was only a minor inconvenience. i got a ticket at the garage, had it validated by work, and then left it on my desk when i left work, realizing this only once i had climbed several flights of steps to my car. the nice parking attendant let me out with just my name and my company's name. the second time was much worse. having previously lost my security badge for the office (needed for any bathroom trips throughout the work day), i had purchased a new security badge. of course, two days later, i found my ORIGINAL security badge, and let it sit on the counter for a few weeks. then, i brought my garage pass into the house for no good reason. over the weekend, i see it on the table, identify it as my old, deactivated SECURITY badge, and promptly throw it in the trash. i realize my error the next morning when once again i could not get into the parking garage. and, once again, i get my ticket validated and then leave my validated ticket on my desk when i leave for the evening. and nick was kind enough to fish my garage pass out of the garbage for me.

i routinely forget things at work. this is problematic because my job is basically organizing and remembering a whole slew of details across multiple projects with multiple clients. not only do i sometimes forget to do things (very unlike me!) but on occasion, i forget that i've already done things and i do them twice. today was a nice example. i have my glucose test tomorrow and i've decided to work from home in the morning. i had discussed this earlier with my boss but wanted to confirm it with another co-worker. i did that, and told my boss i'd be working from home. then, about twenty minutes later, i decided to tell her again. and then i felt stupid.

one of my favorite mishaps involves the part of my brain responsible for coordination. i am not a graceful person. well, i can fall gracefully, i think. but i'm clumsy. we all know this. pregnancy increases this tendency, when i didn't need any help! i have trouble parallel parking even. so, about a month ago, during our ridiculous heat wave in cincinnati, i prepared for work in the morning and chose a pair of maternity cropped pants and a graphic tank top. knowing i would be comfortable, i worried that i didn't look quite professional enough for the client meeting i had that afternoon, so i grabbed a nice belted cardigan (which i could not belt, because it was not maternity wear). everything was fine until my pre-meeting bathroom break. after relieving myself, i stood only to realize that one end of my cardigan belt had been chilling in the toilet bowl for the whole thing. so, i come out, announce to my boss that i peed on my sweater, and went to the meeting in a tank top. i think some people give pregnant ladies some leeway in terms of wardrobe, especially when in the midst of a heat wave.

this pregnancy keeps rolling along with lots of little updates along the way. parker is a KICKER. especially at night! and i have another prenatal checkup tomorrow, so maybe i'll have more updates to share. but we're getting close. and we're getting ready to: prepare our nursery, choose a pediatrician, and explore day care options. and i have a baby shower in about a month! but i am hoping this last trimester goes more quickly than the first two - ready to see a light at the end of the tunnel!
